  • Glitter (optional)

  • Metallic or colored spray paint (optional)
    metallic paint

Directions:

  1. If you’ve gathered your own pine cones for this project, you’ll want to thoroughly wash and dry them before starting. Fill a sink or a large bowl with water and add anywhere from half a cup to one cup of distilled white vinegar, and let the pine cones soak for about half an hour. Remove pine cones and pat them dry. Lay them on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil and bake in the oven at 200 degrees for 30 minutes in order to kill any bugs or other pests that may be living inside. Remove, let cool, and set on newspaper to dry for about two days.
  2. If you’d like to add some glitter or color to your wreath, brush Modge Podge or glue onto the pine cone’s leaves, and sprinkle with or dip in glitter! You can also spray paint the pine cones, which can be done either before or after you make your wreath! (Optional)
  3. Once your pine cones are washed and styled to your liking, paint or spray paint the foam wreath form, that way if there is a gap between cones, it will be less noticeable!
  4. Fire up the hot glue gun, and in the meantime, sort your pine cones by size so you know what you’re working with!
  5. Working from the inside inner circle, glue pine cones to the wreath form. If pine cones have any stems, remove them so that the pine cones sit more evenly on the wreath.
  6. There really isn’t a rhyme or reason to the placement of the pine cones! You can do rows with different sizes, or mix things up to give your wreath a full, natural look! Mix different shapes of pine cones too!
  7. Once you have filled your wreath, use a length of ribbon or heavy duty string, or a wreath door hanger to display your beautiful wreath!

You’ll absolutely love the end result of your DIY pine cone wreath! Pine cones are so versatile, so you can make these in the fall and keep them up through the holiday and winter season! How would you style your own pine cone wreath? Leave us a comment to share your crafty winter decor ideas!
